Oaklawn Park President Louis Cella will deliver the keynote address at the 2024 Global Symposium on Racing at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort this December.
Under Cella's leadership, Oaklawn has consistently expanded its racing footprint by lengthening the racing schedule, building a $100-million casino/hotel and by introducing fan-friendly entertainment options, leading to increased attendance and handle.
“Under Mr. Cella's leadership, Oaklawn expanded their racing season into December while keeping both their on-track and simulcasting business strong,” said Robert Hartman, Race Track Industry Program Chair. “Their racing product continues to strengthen as evidenced by the winners of the 2024 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks both taking the Arkansas route.”
Symposium attendees can expect insights on integrating casino wagering and horse racing to support and expand the sport.
Additionally, Cella will discuss how bold moves and investments in the industry can attract crowds and introduce a new generation of fans to horse racing.
“Our success boils down to having a Regulatory body, HBPA and track management who work together for the well-being of the horse and the future of horse racing,” Cella said. “In addition, Oaklawn would not be stronger than ever if not for the most supportive and knowledgeable fans in racing.”
